Reaching the Tribal Communities
Shalom Fellowship India is serving poor tribal communities living in the remote, densely forested areas of Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh, central India. These villagers have a close connection with the forests and depend largely on forest produce and farming for their daily livelihood.
Their simple, hardworking lifestyle revolves around gathering forest resources, cultivating crops, and meeting their families’ basic needs. Rice and vegetables are among their main foods, along with locally raised chickens, goats, and other available food sources. Many people have limited access to education, and some have received little or no formal schooling.
Traditional religious practices remain an important part of community life. Many villagers participate in Hindu rituals and idol worship, while some also follow beliefs and practices associated with witchcraft and black magic. These traditions shape their understanding of spiritual life and the challenges they face.
Although various government welfare schemes and development projects are intended to support tribal communities, the benefits do not reach everyone. Some families receive assistance, while others remain without adequate support. Despite their hard work and resilience, many villagers continue to face difficulties in securing a stable livelihood and improving their living conditions.
The Mission and Our Calling
This is the mission field where Shalom Fellowship India seeks to serve with the love of Christ. The ministry aims to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, build relationships with local communities, and offer spiritual encouragement and practical support where possible. Through prayer, compassionate service, and the faithful sharing of God’s Word, we desire to bring hope to families living in these remote areas.
Our vision is to see tribal communities experience the love of God, grow in their understanding of the Gospel, and find hope for a better future in Christ. We believe that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to hear the message of salvation.
